Last night I decided to download the “free” Atari platform in the iTunes/iPhone APP store. I read the MACWorld review of the new gaming collection- and I had to see if Mrs. Pacman would have the same feel- even if guiding her with my index fingers pulse. A great deal of my childhood is tied to the different gaming and electronic devices that I used by year- whether to communicate or learn…I grew up with bandwidth, extra lives and the understanding that there is always a bonus land when you have won 3 stars, or found Toadstool.
The last time I played Pacman was on my best friends husbands birthday (we gathered with our people, independent ales and all of our early childhood gaming choices). Barcade in Brooklyn is a great combination: inebriated nerdy girls SCREAMING to control your joystick. Little did I know that I had grown a crowd by reaching the Banana level. MY MOM TAUGHT ME WELL. It was the first time I had been hit on at a bar since COLLEGE. I can’t wait to go back.
You’d think I’d be happy- but there’s NO Pacman being marketed, a pinnacle game in your history! The first videogame I mastered was Pacman- on your system. WHERE IS MY FIRST FEMALE AVIATOR?
Yah, you did provide a “sample”/”trial”/”bait” game…
I’m not a Blackberry user- there is no track ball or double finger sensor technology on my 3GS device. At temperatures below 40 degrees F my iPhone won’t recognize a pulse- it can’t respond to two touches at the same time in 80 degrees F. The touch screen technology is still being developed. You don’t see Steve Jobs touching multiple locations when presenting functionality. I also detest this game- it was the favorite of my older brother, and the only game ever available at the 1990’s Coral Square Mall arcade (now a Payless).
I think you should make smaller packages- 99 items in 1 presentation is overwhelming. I don’t have 99 people in my cellphone- why would I want to have access to 99 different video games, most of which would be moot- I’d use possibly 6, maximum?
A part of me wanted to press the Buy option; I will-powered myself away from the addictive 7th grade computer class game.
Atari, you are the gaming pioneer- the only developers that come close are Nintendo and Zynga. Give more leeway- show the games that both genders want to play.
I can’t believe that Donald Trump is still the lead in for all of the major media syndicates on cable and ABC…I didn’t seen the NBC news locally…I really hope that the national news tonight focuses on real issues. Birthers should be shot.
